The aim of the present study was to investigate possible interactions between Greek citizen’s quality of life and various socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, during the recent severe economic crisis of 2010-2011. The sample of the research consisted of 995 residents of Athens and Thessaloniki cities, aged between 18 and 66 years old. The 50.55% of the sample were men and the 49.45% were women. For the evaluation of the quality of life factors was used the Short-Form of SF-36 Health Survey. The results of the study showed that the quality of life level was high (M= 71.83 and SD=19.97), while 40% of the Greek citizens were over weighted. Also results supported a negative correlation between BMI and the total level of Quality of Life (p<.05). Contrary a positive correlation was supported between Quality of Life and physical health and the mental health (p<.05). Finally, further possible recession in the next years could affect negatively citizen’s participation in physical and sport recreation activities.
