«The Role of School Manager toward an Effective Function»

The present study investigated the role of a school manager through Greek and international literature in order to promote a modern and efficient administration in an educational institution. The challenges in modern education requires a flexible school and be able to adapt any changes occurring for a creative management. The improvement of the education quality concerns both Greek and international education community. The major developments has taking place in recent and the development of technology provided new opportunities for teaching practice and formed a different context operation and administration of education. Among the issues investigated were school effectiveness and manager contribution to achieve school effectiveness. A leader in a modern school is called to overcome outdated perceptions expressed by a traditional manager and overcome an ineffective bureaucratic management of schools. The modern manager aims to become a leading figure in the school environment bringing modern educational methods and management models in order to achieve school’s goals.
