The sport facilitation school classes (SFC) have been founded and function 15 years ago within the framework of the Greek national sport planning. The aim of this study has been to examine the efficiency and function of SFC. This involved the preparation and distribution of questionnaires to all parties involved in the system of SFC. Particularly, the questionnaires were forwarded to the physical education office directors, the school headmasters, physical education teachers and coaches, teachers of other specialties involved in SFCs as well as the students and their parents. The population included all students and teachers of Greek SFCs during the 2003-4 school year. The final sample was selected using randomization based on the sport and the city population of each school. The statistical analysis showed that the special classes for sport facilitate on are very important; however there is a need for modifications on the operation of these school classes in order to better fulfil their role and objectives.
