Abstract:

The purpose of the present study was to transfer the Know – How of the basic project management knowledge from the business sector into the Outdoor recreation services delivery system. A project is « … a complex non routine, one time effort, limited by time, budget, resources, and performance specifications designed to meet customer needs» (Gray & Larson, 2000, p.4). Due to their nature, and in order to secure the success of their outcome, projects are managed via «…a series of steps…» (Cook, 2005. p. 4), as well as the use of specific management tools. The representative tools for this are: “Go no go”, “Project map”, “Work break down structure”, “Time table charts”, “Time adjustment methods”, “Budgeting”, “Flow charts”, “Policies and procedures”, “Deliverables”, “Control and evaluation of the project process”, “Risk management”, “Transfer of knowledge”.
